Did you know there is not one published scientist in the world that can answer that question. There is a plethora of equations dedicated to the materials used, why they give off energy freely, when the transfer takes place and where the energy will be transferred, but not one telling us WHAT comprises this essential entity.
As the world of physics struggles with a unification theory, creating ever more complicated mathematics to fill in the blanks of mass misbehavior at micro or macro levels, I decided to take another path. Start with one of the axioms of Newtonian physics which states basically, an object will remain at rest or travel in a straight line unless acted upon by an outside unbalanced force. We can observe this phenomenon with the naked eye while shooting pool, curling (the sport), car wrecks, tether ball, volleyball, tennis, ping pong, closing the door, etc. This bothered me. If indeed this is the nature of physics, then nothing would have ever happened and the universe would be static. So, of course as scientists, we’ve made up things like dark matter to help explain why the universe continues to whiz and whir in beautiful, organized chaos. Using the principles of Occam’s Razor, I came to the conclusion that all mass must have inherent acceleration or what I call Attitude. If mass had a natural tendency to move then all the movement in the universe has a reason to happen.
Okay, now that’s settled, where do we go from there? Straight to that famous universally accepted equation, E=mc2, energy equals mass multiplied by the square of the speed of light. This describes everything in existence. That’s pretty cool. The problem with this equation is that we study physics from a mass viewpoint, completely ignoring the energy component on the left side. Take this one step further by eliminating the speed of light constant and the conclusion is simply that mass is energy. Whoa! That brings us back to the problem of creating a universal equation because WE DON”T KNOW WHAT ENERGY IS!!!
Here, at The 1st Church of Attitude, we have a theory solving that conundrum. I will take you on a journey of discovery. We are going to ask you to change your perspective and view the world in a completely different fashion. I will introduce you to the meaning of Energy. What it is, where it came from and why it behaves the way it does. Why we have organized chaos, why everything moves in waves (yes, everything), why the big bang started in a single point, how a vacuum behaves, what gravity is, why things get really squirrelly when we observe mass behavior on a microscopic scale, the basics of atomic structure and the nature of an “infinite” universe. I am going to take you on this journey as I discovered it. Giving new perspectives to be pondered and dissected in your own time, I hope to wake up the world of Physics and help take it into the 21st century.
Ouch! Really! Science?! Yes, but only if you are interested. It will not be all about stark equations and obscure phraseology. With humor, I will describe the steps of mental acrobatics that brought me to these conclusions. Each step building onto the next until the answer presents itself to you. That being said, I am a big picture guy, I welcome all mathematicians that can help me with the derivatives of my basic equation. (There is a primal curve, some stuff involving vacuum pressure constants and so on that needs some work.)
So this is what you have to look forward to here on this side of the 1st Attitudinal Church of Common Sense. Don’t be scared. Even if you are not a math whiz or student of science, you might come away feeling quite a bit different about your environment and your relation to it. Or just say….NO WAY!…I’m going back to the Common Sense side. (Even though I will preach that common sense and attitude are intricately woven together in this journey we call life.) Sound like fun?! Ha! You should reside inside this noggin for a day.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope your curiosity is peaked and you decide to join us here to see what crazy nonsense this guy is talking about, just for fun.
Your humble servant
Jeff
