‘ Work’ The Most Basic Commonsense
I would like to start by looking at ourselves as animals. Over eight billion animals with rational thought so they can make judgement of their circumstances. Animals that first and foremost must struggle to feed themselves like every other animal on the planet.
Wild animals hunt or forage to survive without complaint. Every day is a new challenge to fill bellies and stay alive. Creatures thrive through the very process of survival by embracing the struggle every day. Each new generation does their best to insure the continuation of the species. Without that daily effort animals would perish, no struggle equals no survival.
That brings us back to those eight plus billion mouths that belong to human beings. Since we have built societal structures to allow us to live together in very close proximity, we now also need to take care of the other end. So as a human being you are now responsible for taking care of your mouth and ass. That is your daily struggle. Boil it down, the two most important groups of people on the planet are farmers and plumbers….lol. Luckily, most of the rest of us can work within the structure of our societal circumstances to help bridge the gap between the two. Just like every other animal, the daily struggle is necessary to guarantee survival.
So basic commonsense would dictate that you must apply yourself to the world around you, on a daily basis, to thrive. No one else can do it for you. The struggle is real, necessary, growth, and with the proper perspective, often times a wild wonderful ride.
We have been educated, propagandized and led to believe (at least here in America) that the struggle needs to be eliminated. Told that as a human being, life should be handed to you on a silver platter without recompense. This sort of thinking can only lead to the inevitable demise of the human race.
As members of the 1st Church of Common Sense, it’s our duty to: manifest our best efforts to keep the machinery of human society working smoothly, help those around us understand and overcome everyday obstacles, and use our powers of parsimonious thinking to enlighten and teach commonsense to others.
On a lighter note….we can also get together to rail at the stupidity surrounding us and commiserate together when it gets to be just too %@#$@% MUCH!!! Don’t forget, love laughter and a well cooked meal make it all worthwhile…..that’s just commonsense.
Till next week, your dedicated servant
jeff
